SUSTAINABILITY
AT MATRIX PLASTICS

Matrix Plastics is wholeheartedly committed to acting sustainably in all areas of our business operations.

From the materials we process in our colour compounding facility to our paper usage in the office, from our waste management system to our company car policy - our impact on the environment is something we take very seriously here at Matrix Plastics.
We are committed to leading the industry in minimising the impact of our activities on the environment and believe that we have a responsibility to care for and protect the environment in which we operate.
We are fully committed to continual improvement of the environmental performance across all of our business activities, and will encourage our employees, business partners and members of the wider community to join us in this effort.
All employees have a responsibility in their area to ensure that the aims and objectives of the policy are met. We will ensure that resources are available to enable us to achieve our objectives and targets.

Since 2016, we have replaced our office, communal, warehouse and production areas’ lighting with LEDs for more efficient energy usage and savings, replaced our older extruders with more energy efficient equipment, implemented water saving systems throughout our production process, reduced our company car fleet and switched to either hybrid of full electric where possible, switched to a transport company who were the first carbon neutral courier in 2005, and recycled all unused card and scrap plastic.
In the future, we aim to: monitor and reduce energy usage; reduce the amount of waste to landfill; inform customers and suppliers of our commitment to reducing our environmental impact; use good environmental practices in our day to day operations which comply with, or exceed, the legal requirements; and actively seek updates on legislation and other industry requirements.

Matrix Plastics Ltd is committed to the Operation Clean Sweep® scheme - an international program designed to prevent resin pellet, flake, and powder loss and help keep this material out of the marine environment. This means that we adhere to best practices and implement systems to reduce plastic pellet loss throughout our supply chain.

Matrix Plastics Ltd works with many leading polymer producers who produce innovative bioplastic solutions. Our in-house technical expertise can support sustainability projects with the procurement, development and production of compounding and masterbatch solutions which involve and focus on bioplastics and sustainability.

NIR-Detectable Masterbatches

Black and silver masterbatches and compounds can make recycling via near-infrared (NIR) technology challenging due to the absorption of signals used in the identification and sorting of polymers in the recycling process. This can lead to reduced rates of plastics being recycled and increased Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fees.

Matrix Plastics is able to support producers to increase recycling output and reduce EPR fees with NIR-detectable black and silver masterbatches available for a wide variety of polymers, including PET, PP and PE.

Maintain high-quality finishes and aesthetics and safeguard your recycling streams with Matrix Plastics.
