Customer Update: Raw Material Supply Advisory

At Matrix Plastics, we believe clear communication is essential when market conditions begin to change. We therefore want to provide an update on current developments within the global petrochemical supply chain that may affect polymer availability in the coming months.

Recent geopolitical developments in the Middle East are creating significant uncertainty across global energy and logistics markets. Considering the ongoing conflict in the region, global markets have experienced sudden and significant volatility across multiple sectors. This has been driven in part by disruption to oil supply through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route through which approximately 25% of the world’s oil supply transits.

As a result, a number of polymer producers have already announced force majeure or have temporarily closed their order books. Prices for polymers and pigments are currently changing extremely rapidly and, in some cases, fluctuating throughout the day.

Due to the speed at which the market is moving, we have made the decision to move to spot pricing only with immediate effect*.

At Matrix Plastics, we are working closely with our supplier network to maintain continuity of supply wherever possible. However, during periods of market instability, forward planning becomes increasingly important to help secure material availability.

To help minimise disruption, we encourage customers to:

• Review upcoming production schedules and material requirements

• Provide forward forecasts where possible

• Place orders earlier than usual to secure availability

• Consider scheduled or blanket orders where appropriate

Greater visibility of demand allows us to work more proactively with our suppliers and gives us the best possible opportunity to support customer requirements.
